These outcomes were chosen as they were believed to cater for the lesson objectives desired for students to achieve for this particular lesson. These outcomes were chosen as they were believed to cater for the lesson objectives desired for students to achieve for this particular year3 lesson. Students will first view a document instructing them on what a book cover is and then be using a computer program to design their own book covers for pirate stories they created in partners in activity 1. They will be using their typing skills to make the book cover therefore recognising the purpose of writing and the advantages it has to display accurate details about a story.
Activity 3 : Pirate Skit 1.English Listening:Students listen with purpose, understanding and critical awareness in a wide range of situations. Speaking:Students speak with purpose and effect in a wide range of contexts. Use of texts LS 2.1 Identifies the main ideas in, and locates and obtains simple discrete information from, clearly-articulated informational and expressive texts. Explains familiar procedures, describes or recounts events in a logical sequence and sustains conversations on a familiar topic. Contextual understandings LS 2.2Shows awareness of how speaking is adjusted in different situations; observes conventions of taking turns, interrupting; and makes some use of nonverbal cues and differences in tone and pace of text delivery.
2.The Arts Arts IdeasStudents generate arts works that communicate ideas. DRAMASkills, techniques and processes & MEDIA Technologies Arts Skills and Processes ASP 1Experiments with the use of simple arts languages, skills, processes and appropriate technologies to develop arts works and activities in informal settings.
These outcomes were chosen because they clearly link the outcomes desired for this lesson. Students are asked to access and apply pirate vocabulary into a 5 minute pirate skit for an in class pirate TV show. Students practice their speaking and listening skills by working collaboratively with others and therefore show awareness of how speaking is adjusted to suit different situation. By using a video camera students experiment with media to produce a dramatic piece in an informal setting The assessment for this lesson is done by the students, they will use a self assessment rubric about how they felt performing the activities desired outcomes. Activity 4: Creating a pirate flag
1.English Viewing Students View a wide range of visual texts with purpose, understanding and critical awareness. Process and strategies V 2.4

The students experiment with the use of simple arts, language, skills, processes and appropriate technologies to develop arts works and activities in informal settings. These outcomes were chosen because they linked the outcomes expected for this particular lesson. Students will first gather information on the history & forms of pirate flag exploring the given web links in the activity. They collect information & discover the meanings behind different symbols & colours of different pirate flags. They will use paint as ICT device while engineering design of their own pirate flag reflecting their knowledge generated from viewing flag and analysing the electronically produced texts.
